The Ghana Football Association has taken another step toward strengthening football development and administration across the country, as its President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, officially handed over a new batch of five vehicles to key operational units. The initiative, funded through the FIFA Forward Program, forms part of a broader national distribution strategy aimed at improving logistics, enhancing grassroots football, and modernizing the management of the sport in Ghana.
This latest delivery completes a phased rollout that began in 2025, targeting regions and technical units that were not covered in the initial allocation. Among the beneficiaries are the Regional Football Associations in Greater Accra and the Northern Region, both of which received Nissan Navara pickup trucks to support their day-to-day operations. These vehicles are expected to significantly improve mobility for officials, enabling them to better coordinate competitions, scouting, and administrative activities across their respective jurisdictions.
Additional allocations were made to key national football structures. The GFA’s Technical Directorate received a vehicle to support its critical role in shaping the foundation of football development, including coaching education, talent identification, and youth programs. The Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram—Ghana’s primary national training hub—also received a vehicle to assist with national team logistics and training operations. Another pickup truck was assigned to the GFA headquarters to strengthen core administrative functions and improve overall operational efficiency.

By addressing logistical challenges, the GFA aims to create a more efficient and responsive system that supports both elite and grassroots levels of the game. The vehicles are particularly important for grassroots development, where access to reliable transportation has often been a limiting factor in organizing competitions and identifying emerging talent.
At the regional level, the new vehicles will facilitate the coordination of activities such as U15 girls’ leagues, colts football, and lower-division competitions, which form the backbone of Ghana’s football ecosystem. Improved mobility will enable regional administrators to monitor games more effectively, support clubs, and ensure that development programs are implemented consistently across the country. This decentralized approach is expected to empower local football bodies and promote a more professional structure at the grassroots level.
To ensure sustainability and accountability, all vehicles have been fully insured, and recipient units have been briefed on strict maintenance guidelines in line with FIFA requirements. This emphasis on proper upkeep is intended to maximize the long-term impact of the investment and ensure that the vehicles remain operational for years to come.
The current distribution builds on an earlier phase completed in April 2025, during which eight regions—including Ashanti, Volta, and Western—received similar double-cabin pickups. Together, these efforts reflect the growing impact of the FIFA Forward 3.0 program, which has increased development funding to member associations by approximately 25 percent. Between 2023 and 2026, Ghana is expected to receive around $8 million under the program, providing critical support for infrastructure, administration, and talent development.
As the GFA continues to invest in foundational systems, the vehicle distribution initiative highlights a practical and strategic approach to football development—one that recognizes the importance of logistics, accessibility, and grassroots engagement in building a sustainable and competitive football ecosystem.
