Mahama Honored with Prestigious Global Leadership Award in Philadelphia

President John Dramani Mahama has been awarded the International Statesperson Award by the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, the organization’s highest honor recognizing global leaders who demonstrate exceptional leadership, uphold democratic values, and contribute to international peace and cooperation.

The recognition highlights Mahama’s commitment to democratic governance and his efforts to promote stability across West Africa. The Council also acknowledged his advocacy for sustainable development and social justice, noting his active engagement in global conversations on economic inclusion and equitable growth.

With this honor, Mahama joins a distinguished list of past recipients that includes Kofi Annan, Ronald Reagan, Bono, and F. W. de Klerk.

During the award ceremony in Philadelphia, Mahama emphasized the need to strengthen democratic institutions to effectively address modern global challenges. He also underscored the importance of international cooperation in tackling issues such as climate change and economic inequality, particularly in developing countries.
