MTN Ghana has announced significant reductions in the prices of its home fiber broadband packages after discussions with the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations aimed at improving internet affordability across the country.
Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George confirmed that the revised pricing structure took effect on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, describing the move as part of broader efforts to make digital services more accessible and respond to public concerns over the cost of internet connectivity.
New Home Fiber Pricing
Under the updated tariff structure, customers will benefit from lower prices and the introduction of new high-speed unlimited packages.

The reduction in the 100 Mbps plan represents one of the most substantial price adjustments in the company’s home broadband offerings.
Government Push for More Affordable Internet
The revised pricing follows negotiations between the government, telecommunications operators, and industry regulators aimed at lowering the cost of digital services for consumers.
According to the ministry, a multi-stakeholder committee comprising representatives from telecom companies and the National Communications Authority (NCA) was established to develop a roadmap for improving affordability while maintaining the sustainability of network investments.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader agenda to expand digital inclusion and enhance access to reliable internet services nationwide.
Competitive Landscape Influencing Market Changes
Industry observers note that increasing competition in Ghana’s broadband market may also have contributed to the pricing review.
The expansion of alternative internet providers, including satellite-based services, has intensified competition for residential and enterprise customers, encouraging established operators to introduce more attractive pricing and service packages.
The launch of additional higher-speed fiber plans is expected to strengthen MTN Ghana’s position in the growing home broadband market.
Mobile Data Improvements Also Announced
Beyond fixed broadband, the Ministry of Communications has unveiled plans to enhance value for mobile data subscribers.
Among the announced changes is the restoration of several legacy data bundles, including the GH¢399 package, whose allocation is set to increase from 92.88 GB back to 214 GB.
The ministry also disclosed that broader adjustments to mobile data offerings will be implemented in the coming months, with MTN customers expected to receive an average 15% increase in value, while Telecel and AirtelTigo users are projected to benefit from approximately 10% additional value on selected data packages.
Boosting Digital Access
The latest reforms are intended to make internet services more affordable for households, businesses, students, and remote workers while supporting Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.
By reducing broadband costs and enhancing mobile data packages, policymakers hope to expand internet adoption and improve access to online education, digital commerce, and other technology-driven services across the country.
