The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has conducted a series of coordinated raids on suspected drug hideouts across parts of Greater Accra and the Oti Region, leading to the arrest of several individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit substances.
The weekend operation targeted communities including Kissieman, Dome and Kwabenya in Accra, as well as Alavanyo in the Oti Region. During the exercise, officers recovered quantities of suspected narcotics and other materials believed to be associated with illegal drug operations.
According to authorities, the raids were intelligence-driven and formed part of a broader nationwide campaign aimed at disrupting drug trafficking activities and tackling substance abuse, especially within communities considered vulnerable to such criminal activities.
Several suspects were arrested during the swoop and are currently assisting with investigations. NACOC says those found culpable will face prosecution in accordance with the law.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying enforcement measures against the illegal drug trade and cautioned individuals involved in narcotics-related crimes to desist or face legal consequences.
Officials further indicated that similar operations will be sustained across the country as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks engaged in the distribution of illegal drugs.
