Nhyiraba Kojo, a popular hiplife musician, remains in Sekondi Prisons five days after the Sekondi Commercial Court sentenced him to 30 days imprisonment for contempt of court. Four Fijai residents brought against him the case regarding noise from his nightclub. Nhyiraba Kojo’s lawyer, Philip Fiifi Buckman, stated that his client had already complied with the court’s demands to install soundproof facilities at his nightclub prior to being sent to prison.
However, he could not file a completion report within the timeframe because of bureaucracy from the EPA and the Environmental Health Office of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis. Justice Sedina Agbemava found Nhyiraba Kojo guilty of contempt for failing to observe an injunction order to stop the noise at the nightclub and submit a report to the court. The petitioners in the case are Edmund Sampana Dienorng, Nicholas Imbeah, and Samuel Kofi Dzukey.
