Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, a Member of Parliament representing Odododiodio, has officially declared that he will not seek re-election. This decision stems from his failure to submit his candidacy forms for the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) parliamentary primaries.
As of now, three candidates have submitted their candidacy forms for the upcoming primaries scheduled for Tuesday, October 31. Nii Adjebu Lamptey, a member of the NDC Elections Committee for the Odododiodio Constituency, made this announcement.
Consequently, he has urged the supporters of these three candidates to exercise restraint in their public statements. He emphasized, “NDC members and supporters, what we are currently engaged in is internal competition, and we hope that all of them will conduct themselves with decorum, ensuring a peaceful election.”
“The nomination process has been characterized by a peaceful atmosphere, and we anticipate that this will persist. Vetting will take place at the regional party office on Friday, and the elections will proceed as scheduled on October 31.”
Nii Lante Vanderpuye was first elected to parliament in 2013 after defeating Victor Okaikoi of the New Patriotic Party in the 2012 general elections.
