Sarah Adwoa Safo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome Kwabenya, has expressed her lack of concern regarding the recent boos from some market women in her constituency during a visit.

Despite facing disapproval from certain market women who expressed their dissatisfaction by booing and jeering, Adwoa Safo remains unfazed. In a widely shared video on social media, she can be seen attempting to engage with the market women, offering a friendly handshake. However, her efforts were overwhelmed by the sound of people expressing their discontent with hooting, shouting, and clapping.

Some of the market women vocalized their displeasure with chants such as, “Adwoa Safo, we want change!” and “Adwoa Safo, we don’t want you anymore!”

Nevertheless, the former Minister for Gender and Social Protection chose to ignore the disapproving chants and continued her duties by interacting with other traders who extended their hands to greet her. Safo acknowledged that she is aware of the concerns raised by some market women and assured that she is working to address them. She emphasized that the stalled market project, which some women were protesting, is a top priority for her, and she is committed to seeing it through to completion.

In response to the situation, Safo stated, “Not everybody will like you. Daddy Lumba said, ‘Mpem pem b3 d) wo, mpem pem b3tan wo.’ Go to Dome market, and my women still love me. But on the voting day, I know the love they will show me.”

She further explained that her visit to the market was at the invitation of the majority of the market women.
