NPP Flagbearer Balloting Results

0133

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) recently conducted a ballot for its flagbearer hopefuls to prepare for the upcoming special delegates conference on August 26. The balloting, held in Accra on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, resulted in Kennedy Agyapong obtaining the first slot, followed by Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen in the second slot. Notably, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana and a prominent contender, secured the 10th slot.

In connection with the ballot results, Kennedy Agyapong has issued a warning, stating that he will not actively campaign for the NPP if some of the party’s supporters continue to attack him. During an interview, the Assin Central MP asserted he would choose to move to the United States of America if he is not elected as the party’s flagbearer.

Agyapong expressed his stance, saying that if the current situation persists, he will not invest his resources in supporting young individuals who disrespect him. He challenged others within the party, including Adomako Baafi, to handle the campaign efforts. Despite his ambitions to lead the NPP into the 2024 General Election, Agyapong clarified that losing the flagbearer election would not be seen as a major setback.

He firmly believes that if elected by the delegates, he possesses pragmatic solutions to address the numerous challenges faced by Ghanaians. Below is the complete list of the ballot results:

  1. Ken Ohene Agyapong
  2. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen
  3. Joe Ghartey
  4. Kwadwo Poku
  5. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto
  6. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong
  7. Francis Addai Nimoh
  8. Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku
