The Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin has called for equal opportunities for all Ghanaians, particularly those in rural areas. He emphasized that many talented children in rural communities lack the opportunities available to their urban counterparts to discover and develop their skills.
Speaking at a traditional durbar in Akyem Wenchi, marking the 25th anniversary of his ascension to the Ofori Panin Stool, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin stressed that providing equal access to education and other resources would enable rural children to compete on a national level.
He also highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment, noting that women have consistently demonstrated the ability to make the most of even modest investments.
As part of his commitment to education, the Okyenhene has built 10 model schools across the Akyem Abuakwa State. One of these, the Amoatia Ofori Panin Model School, was commissioned in Akyem Wenchi. The facility includes nine classrooms, a computer lab, ICT centers, a headmaster’s office, and a staff common room.
Regarding illegal mining, Osagyefuo acknowledged that while mining itself is not inherently harmful, the destructive practices leading to the degradation of water bodies, biodiversity, and ecosystems must be stopped.
Oseawuohene Daasebre Dr. Asumadu Appiah, delivering the State of Oseawuo report, announced that the Oseawuo division has successfully halted illegal logging and mining activities in the Kwaebibirim area.
