Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, has expressed confidence that Ghana will remain stable during the upcoming December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Speaking at a durbar organized by the Nifa Division of Akyem Abuakwa in Asiakwa to celebrate his 25th enstoolment anniversary, the Okyenhene reassured Ghanaians that the country’s tradition of peaceful elections will continue. He encouraged citizens to vote for candidates they believe will improve their lives and to remain patient as they await the results.
The Okyenhene urged tolerance among supporters of different political parties, emphasizing that elections are not the ultimate determinant of Ghana’s future. His comments come amid concerns from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), which has refused to sign any peace declaration ahead of the election, citing unresolved killings from the 2020 elections.
Additionally, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin advised his subjects not to be troubled by increasing hate attacks against the Akyem tribe. He also strongly cautioned against illegal mining, which is devastating the environment, and decreed that schools in Akyem Abuakwa ensure that every child over five years old plants and nurtures a tree.
The vibrant traditional ceremony featured a blend of drumming and dancing, along with performances by King Paluta and DSP Kofi Sarpong.
