Parliament approves new appointments

Parliament has approved the appointments of Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo as Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and Herbert Krapah as Minister of State for the Energy Ministry.

The Minority staged a walkout before the vote, arguing that President Akufo-Addo’s nominations would expand the government and increase spending, making the approval biased.

Similar concerns had previously led the Minority caucus to abstain from the Appointments Committee’s screening of the nominated ministers.

Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin refuted allegations that the government is expanding during a financial crisis.
