Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has emphasized the importance of Parliament’s approval of three new tax bills. According to the Minister, the government must accept these bills to generate the revenue required to fund critical public services and infrastructure projects.

The first of the three bills is the Communication Service Tax Bill, which aims to increase the tax rate on communication services such as voice calls, messaging, and data usage. The second bill is the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, which proposes changes to the tax structure for non-resident businesses operating in Ghana. Finally, the Tax Amnesty Bill seeks to provide a grace period for individuals and companies with outstanding tax liabilities to settle their debts without incurring penalties or interest charges.

The Minister has urged Parliament to consider the urgent need for these bills to be approved and passed into law. He has stated that the successful implementation of these tax measures is critical to the country’s economic development and the government’s ability to provide essential services to its citizens.

It is important to note that passing these bills is subject to parliamentary debate and approval, and their impact on individuals and businesses will depend on the final form of the legislation.
