Pastor Owusu, also known as Pastor Isaac Okyeam, has been arrested by the Akyem Oda Police for his involvement in the death of Ama Nkansah Appiah, a 42-year-old woman. The incident occurred during a deliverance session, where the pastor was accused of burning the victim.
According to an article on dailyguidenetwork.com, the tragic event occurred on April 25, 2023, in Akyem Asawase, a suburb of Akyem Awisa, in the Eastern Region.
During the deliverance session, Pastor Owusu purportedly administered a spiritual oil to the victim’s body, resulting in severe burns that proved fatal. Ama Nkansah Appiah was taken to the Oda Government Hospital, but later transferred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. Unfortunately, she passed away on May 2.
Adwoa Gloria, the deceased’s younger sister, recounted how her sister sought spiritual consultation from the pastor, only to return home with life-threatening burn injuries covering her body. Although Pastor Owusu initially denied any knowledge of what had occurred to Ama Nkansah Appiah, it was revealed that he suffered burns on his left hand and foot.
Further investigation revealed that Pastor Owusu allegedly used a spiritual oil during his customary rituals, resulting in a fire that harmed him and the woman. The extent to which fire was involved, besides the anointing oil, remains unclear.
The grieving family of the deceased is seeking justice for their loved one. The police have started an investigation into the incident.
