The Ghana Police Service has issued a reminder, particularly to faith-based organizations, that the law regarding the communication of prophecies remains in effect.
This law specifically prohibits the public dissemination of doomsday prophecies, especially those predicting deaths, harm, or similar events with the potential to incite lawlessness.
In an official statement, the Police emphasized, “The Police would like to remind the public that, while we have the right to practice our faith and freedom of speech as guaranteed by our constitution and democratic values, we want to reiterate that the enjoyment of these rights is subject to respect for the rights and freedoms of others and for the public interest.”
Designating December 27th as Prophecy Communication Compliance Day, the Ghana Police Service urges religious communities to exercise their faith within the legal framework.
