Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), , will embark on a day-long tour of three major markets in Accra today, Thursday. Her visits will include stops at Mallam Atta, Kaneshie, and Makola markets, where she will engage with market women, traders, shop attendants, shoppers, kayayei (female porters), commercial drivers, and passengers.
During her tour, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang will discuss the NDC’s policies and plans for women’s financial empowerment, including the proposed creation of a Women’s Development Bank. This initiative is expected to provide about one million women in business—including food vendors, market women, bakers, hairdressers, and dressmakers—with access to loans that feature flexible repayment terms.
