Professor Kojo Yankah, has issued a challenge to individuals or organizations involved in illegal mining, known locally as galamsey, urging them to come forward and admit their wrongdoings.

Prof. Yankah questioned whether any guilty parties, regardless of their religious or political backgrounds, would take responsibility for their actions.

“With all the information available to the public concerning galamsey and its operators, would one guilty religious person or organization, no matter their social or political orientation, come forward to confess or repent? Let’s test our faith,” the former Agona East Member of Parliament wrote in a Facebook post.

Galamsey has long been a persistent problem in Ghana, causing widespread environmental, health, and economic issues despite efforts to control and regulate the practice.
