The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced a modest reduction in energy rates for residential customers. However, the commission clarified that there would be no adjustments in pricing for lifeline customers (0-30 kWh) and residential customers consuming within the 0-300 kWh category.
PURC explained that the 6.56% marginal rate cut is targeted at benefiting residential customers with a consumption range of 301 kWh and higher.
“Tariffs within the 0-300 kWh for the non-residential class of consumers remain unchanged. However, consumers in the 301 kWh and above class will experience an average reduction of 4.98%,” it further stated.
The Commission also confirmed that water prices for all customer classes will remain unaffected throughout the review period.
