Dr. Ing. Kenneth Ashigbey, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, commended 11 individuals recognized as change makers at the inaugural JoyNews Impact Makers Awards in Accra. As a member of the judging panel, Ashigbey expressed his admiration for these individuals who dedicated themselves to improving their communities.
According to Ashigbey, the awards ceremony celebrated the significant impact these exceptional individuals had on their communities. He described them as extraordinary individuals who displayed unwavering dedication and selflessness, leaving a lasting impression on their surroundings. Despite the dissonance prevalent in the world, these individuals chose a different path, responding to the needs of their communities with courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment. They served as beacons of hope, catalysts for positive change, and guardians of the well-being of those around them.
Ashigbey referred to the honorees as “quiet heroes” because of their tireless efforts in alleviating suffering, empowering the marginalized, and improving the lives of others. Their actions created a ripple effect throughout their communities, inspiring and awakening the untapped potential within each person they touched. These individuals showed that a single act of kindness could spark a chain reaction of goodwill, leading to a more inclusive, compassionate, and thriving society. Through innovative social enterprises, grassroots activism, and transformative initiatives, they turned challenges into opportunities, showing that adversity could be overcome and barriers broken down by recognizing the inherent worth and potential of every individual.

Among the awardees, Mr. Isaac Adjaottor, founder of Farm for Livelihood Association in Ada-Foah, emerged as the overall winner of the JoyNews Impact Makers Awards. Other recipients included health enthusiast Jefferson Kwasi Agbotro, friend of lepers Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, entrepreneur and social activist Richard Kwei Mensah Okoe, Ellen White Opoku of Busunya, mental health fighter Eliasu Yussif Baba, and Yayra Portia Klu for volunteerism and education. Additional honorees were Joy Okrah of AWO Fields, Rev. Fr. Dr. Moses Asaah Awinongya from Namoo, Rev. John Akaribo of Bolga, and entrepreneur Amadu Mohammed.
Each awardee received a cash prize, a plaque, and a citation. Their inspiring stories will be featured on Multimedia Group Limited’s platforms, encouraging individuals and businesses to follow their examples and provide support.
