Rema, the talented young rapper, gained worldwide fame and topped charts globally with his hit single “Calm Down,” released under the Nigerian record label Mavin. Since his debut, Rema has experienced a steady rise in popularity, amassing a growing fanbase and achieving international recognition.

This 2022 international sensation made history by quickly climbing to the top of the Official MENA Chart soon after its launch, becoming the first-ever No.1 hit. As of the present moment, “Calm Down” has garnered nearly 388 million streams on Spotify. In comparison, its viral remix featuring US artist Selena Gomez has reached an astounding 717,512,920 streams on the same platform.

The song, the second lead single from Rema’s debut album “Rave & Roses,” delves into the singer’s pursuit of love. It narrates the story of Rema meeting a girl who stands out in her yellow dress at a party, compelling him to get closer to her.

With its remarkable success, “Calm Down” received numerous award nominations and consistently secured top positions on international charts, peaking within the Top 3 in countries such as Belgium, France, Portugal, and the Netherlands.

In 2023, the remix featuring Selena Gomez earned a nomination at the Global Awards for Best Social Trended Song.
Rema, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, is a rapidly emerging Nigerian hip-hop rapper, Afro beats singer, songwriter, stage performer, recording artist, and model. He is signed to the renowned Nigerian music producer Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records label. Rema gained prominence with releasing the song “Iron Man,” which found a spot on Barack Obama’s 2019 summer playlist.

In September 2020, Rema’s songs were featured on the FIFA 21 soundtrack.

Born into a deeply religious Christian family in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, Rema developed his singing and rapping skills during secondary school. He attended both primary and secondary school in Edo State.
