Ningo-Prampram MP, Samuel Nartey George, has strongly condemned the actions of Effutu MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, towards Madam Gifty Jiagge Gobah, the Clerk to the Appointments Committee of Parliament.

Describing Afenyo-Markin’s behavior as “misogynistic and narcissistic,” Sam George asserted that such conduct, directed at a clerk with 18 years of service in Parliament, “must be roundly condemned by all well-meaning members of society and Parliament itself.”

His remarks follow Afenyo-Markin’s public criticism of the clerk, accusing her of convening a meeting without informing the minority side. However, Sam George labeled Afenyo-Markin’s actions as “despicable” and “unbecoming of a Leader of the august House.”

Expressing his dismay, the Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations Minister-designate questioned whether Afenyo-Markin would have exhibited the same behavior toward a male clerk.

“I am absolutely certain he would not have dared to do this to a male Clerk of Parliament,” he stated.

Sam George commended Madam Gifty Jiagge Gobah for her professionalism and grace under pressure, calling her a “role model for our daughters.”

He urged the Clerk of Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, to formally bring the matter before Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, emphasizing that such behavior would not be tolerated, particularly following the passage of the Affirmative Action Law.

“Madam Gifty Jiagge Gobah, I and many more decent people stand with you. Be encouraged and stand strong with your head held high,” he concluded.
