The Accra Regional Police Command has outlined comprehensive security measures ahead of the “Save The Judiciary” demonstration organized by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and allied political groups, set to take place on Monday, May 5, 2025.
In a statement signed by Mrs. Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the Ghana Police Service confirmed that the protest will begin at 7:00 a.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m.
“The Police urge all participants to act within the law and cooperate fully with security personnel,” the statement said.
Police officers will be strategically deployed along the demonstration route to ensure public safety and maintain order throughout the event.
The approved protest route will pass through key landmarks including the Supreme Court, Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) Traffic Light, High Court Complex, and Parliament House.
To facilitate the demonstration, temporary road diversions will be implemented along the designated route.
“Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and follow police instructions to avoid unnecessary delays,” the police advised.
Reiterating their dedication to public safety, the statement added: “The Accra Regional Police Command remains committed to ensuring the protection of lives and property, as well as the right to peaceful assembly.”
The Police also reminded organizers to adhere to the guidelines set out in the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491), and to uphold their pledge to conduct a peaceful and orderly protest.
