On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, Samuel Awuku, the Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), initiated the construction of a state-of-the-art basketball and volleyball court for Okuapeman School in Akropong, Eastern Region. This project was in response to a request made by Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III, the Mamfehene and Kyidomhene of the Akuapem Traditional Area.
Upon completion, Mr. Awuku proposed the facility be named after Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III, acknowledging his exceptional leadership and dedication to the school’s progress. Expressing his enthusiasm, Mr. Awuku stated, “I am delighted to be present here, not just as a guest, but as a proud son of Akuapem land. This gesture begins a lasting relationship between Okuapeman Senior High School and myself.”
The headmaster of Okuapeman School, Rev. Daniel Afari, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Sammi Awuku for his consistent support of education in the municipality. He emphasized that the facility’s timing was perfect and would benefit the school and the people of Akuapem.
Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III expressed his appreciation for the recognition given to him by Mr. Awuku and urged the contractor to adhere to the agreed timelines, ensuring the students could benefit from the facility as soon as possible.
Besides this development, Mr. Awuku oversees the construction of an astro-turf with ample seating capacity in Akropong and installing roofing and ceilings for the Akropong Salem School.
