Eighteen members of Parliament (MPs) affiliated with the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Majority Caucus have unequivocally declared that they will not seek reelection in the upcoming legislative term in 2024.
The voluntary departure of these MPs has sparked discussions and speculation about the NPP’s future in the coming years. Notable figures among them include Kyei Mensah Bonsu (Suame), Joe Osei Owusu (Bekwai), Atta Akyea (Abuakwa South), Joe Ghartey (Essikado Ketan), and Ken Agyapong (Assin Central). These individuals were prominent members of the NPP government, and their exit is expected to leave a notable void in both leadership and parliamentary representation for the party.
