Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, asserts that the termination of the controversial SSNIT hotels sale is only the beginning of the fight against state capture.
Ablakwa has vowed to continue his efforts against state capture, stating, “The battle against State Capture continues, and we shall be victorious again!”
Ablakwa’s comments indicate that while the cancellation of the SSNIT hotels sale is a notable victory, the larger struggle against state capture is ongoing.
“The sale may have been terminated, but the forces behind state capture are still at work,” Ablakwa warned. “We must remain vigilant and continue to push for transparency and accountability in government dealings,” he added in a social media post.
Okudzeto Ablakwa’s stance has garnered widespread support from Ghanaians, who view the fight against state capture as essential for the country’s future.
“State capture is a threat to our democracy and our economy,” said one commentator. “We need leaders like Ablakwa who are willing to stand up against it.”
Ablakwa’s call to action has also mobilized Organised Labour, which has announced a strike on Monday, July 15, to protest the sale of SSNIT’s hotels.
Organised Labour is demanding clarity on SSNIT’s plans for the hotels, despite Rock City Hotel’s withdrawal from the bidding process. They caution that the sale could still proceed with other interested parties.
