The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has refuted claims that it plans to relocate its headquarters from Ghana to Nigeria.
Recent media reports suggested that financial challenges stemming from the Ghanaian government’s debt to WAEC were affecting its operations and fueling discussions about a potential move. However, John Kapi, WAEC’s Head of Public Relations, categorically dismissed these rumors.
“There have been no discussions or decisions regarding such a move,” Kapi clarified. “The law that established WAEC designates its headquarters in Accra, and this has not changed. We can confirm that no such plans are under consideration.”
WAEC’s reassurance puts to rest speculations about the organization’s stability and its continued presence in Ghana.
