Tragedy struck on Thursday, November 9, as approximately 13 individuals lost their lives in the Afram River while attempting to cross to a farm at Azietsi-Korpe, a village near Agyata in the Afram Plains South District.
The Assembly member for the Agyata electorate area, Johnson Anglesinya, has confirmed this unfortunate incident. The victims, he revealed, were hired laborers from Maame Krobo and surrounding areas, engaged by a commercial farmer known as “Burger” in the vicinity.
Anglesinya expressed his intention to visit the site alongside officials from NADMO and the Police to gather additional information and gain a clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
