17 South Africans and 9 Zimbabweans die from cholera


The township of Hammanskraal, near South Africa’s capital city of Pretoria, has been hit by a cholera outbreak, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least 17 individuals. On Monday, May 22, 2023, a patient successfully recovered from cholera at Jubilee District Hospital in Hamanskraal. The National Health Department of South Africa issued a statement on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, expressing its heightened vigilance in order to prevent the entry of cholera cases from neighboring regions, as the Southern African area is currently grappling with this outbreak.
