The Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, led a 28-member delegation to visit the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Otu Barracks in Teshie. The visit was in response to an invitation from the College, seeking collaboration to enhance its academic programs.
During the visit, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum recognized the crucial role of the military in global peace and security. He affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting GAFCSC’s modernization agenda and pledged to collaborate with the Ministry of Defence to secure Parliamentary approval for transitioning the College into a university.
The Minister assured that the Ministry of Education would provide essential logistical support to reinforce the capacity of the College. As a gesture of support, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum pledged to donate 20 laptop computers to aid the College in meeting its objectives.
Major General Bismarck Kwesi Onwonah, the Commandant of GAFCSC, expressed gratitude for the visit, considering it a momentous occasion in the College’s history. He conveyed optimism that the visit would contribute to addressing the prevailing academic challenges faced by the institution.
