Adjaye Accused of Sexual Misconduct

OIF (2)

Architect Sir David Adjaye, renowned for his designs such as the National Museum of African American History and Culture, is no longer engaged in the UK’s Holocaust memorial project or advising London’s mayor. This decision comes after allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him by three women.

Sir David vehemently denies these claims of sexual assault and harassment, emphasizing that his relationships were consensual but regretfully crossed professional boundaries. He acknowledges his error and is committed to seeking professional assistance to learn from these mistakes. The government has stated that his involvement in the Holocaust memorial will be put on hold until the allegations are addressed. Likewise, the mayor’s representative confirms that Sir David has stepped away from his role as a design advocate.

These allegations, involving different exploitation, have caused significant career disruptions and mental distress for the women involved. Sir David’s legal team disputes the claims, asserting they are motivated by financial gain and timing rather than truth. The architect’s achievements include prestigious honors such as the Royal Institute of British Architects gold medal and knighthood.

The seriousness of the allegations has prompted the relevant authorities to take them seriously and start discussions with Adjaye Associates, Sir David’s architectural firm, regarding his involvement in the Holocaust memorial and other ongoing projects.
