AFCON qualifier against Sudan

Otto Addo has called on his team to step up their performance ahead of the crucial AFCON qualifier against Sudan, stressing that a win is essential for their qualification hopes.

Addo is feeling the pressure after the team’s recent draw with Angola and loss to Niger, but remains optimistic about their chances of turning things around.

“It’s going to be tough again. I knew from the start, it’s the small margins, the little details that can make the difference,” he noted. “This is a critical match for us. We have to win—there’s no other option.”

He emphasized the importance of securing a victory to keep their campaign alive. “If we want to improve and play better in future games, we must win now. We’re under pressure, no doubt, and we need to do better.”

As the Black Stars gear up for their next match, Addo highlighted the need to learn from their earlier mistakes in the campaign.

“We’re conceding too many easy goals. I’m disappointed because we didn’t learn from the first game. Now it’s a set piece, we’re all in position, but we need to defend better—this much is clear. I’m really disappointed.”

He continued, “We need to capitalize on our chances and defend more effectively. We must learn from our mistakes. The goals we’ve allowed are too cheap, and we need to grow from this,” Addo concluded.
