President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo greeted His Excellency Fumio Kishida, the Japanese Prime Minister, and his delegation at Jubilee House, Ghana’s presidential seat, on May 1, 2023. President Akufo-Addo noted that seventeen years ago, in 2006, His Excellency Junichiro Koizumi, the Foreign Minister in President John Agyekum Kufuor’s NPP government, was the first Japanese Prime Minister to visit Ghana.

He expressed pleasure in H.E. Kishida being the second Prime Minister to visit Ghana while the NPP is in power. The President assured the Prime Minister that Japan has a reliable ally in Ghana, and both nations share democratic values in developing their economies to create opportunities for their citizens, especially the youth. The President further stated Ghana is prepared to strengthen its ties with Japan for the advancement and prosperity of its citizens and to work together to confront the challenges of their era.
