The Electoral Commission (EC) has confirmed that everything is in place for the district-level elections scheduled for Tuesday, December 19.
A total of 66,257 candidates are vying for assembly and unit committee positions in the upcoming local polls, with 18,755 assembly member candidates and 47,502 unit committee member candidates, according to the Electoral Commission’s statistics.
The electoral contest will unfold across 6,215 electoral areas spread across 216 metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies. Dr. Sereboe Quarcoo, the Director of Electoral Services at the EC, has assured the public that thorough preparations have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections.
Dr. Quarcoo stated that all necessary materials, except for ballot papers, are readily available. He emphasized that the EC ensures full delivery of materials to polling stations, minimizing the likelihood of shortages. In the event of any shortages, district offices are poised to respond promptly to address the situation.
