Kuami Eugene, a popular Ghanaian musician, recently revealed the reason for his refusal to collaborate with fellow industry mate, Guru. Eugene cited Guru’s disrespectful behavior towards him and his family as the reason for his decision.
In 2021, Guru launched a social media attack against Kuami Eugene and released a song titled ‘Who Born Dog?’ to express his dissatisfaction with Eugene’s decision. Guru also accused Eugene of being ungrateful and warned him about the consequences of leaving Lynx in the future.
Eugene explained that the reason for the collaboration not happening was because of Guru’s failure to use the channels to make the request. He also emphasized that he expected respect from Guru towards his boss, Richie, who played a crucial role in his career. Eugene further stated that any song he produced needed to go through Lynx Entertainment.
On The Delay Show, which aired on April 30, 2023, Eugene expressed his disappointment with Guru’s behavior, particularly his attacks on Eugene’s family. Eugene also revealed that he did not expect such behavior from an adult in the industry and wished they could have resolved their differences in a more mature manner.
The rift between Guru and Richie began when Guru requested a feature with either KiDi or Kuami Eugene, but the request was denied. This led to Guru insulting members of Lynx management, including Richie himself. When Kuami Eugene was asked in an interview if he would feature Guru, he declined because of the disrespect shown towards his boss by Guru. Richie defended Eugene’s comment, stating it was not disrespectful, and he would have reprimanded Eugene if he had acted out of line.
