The Asogli State Chiefs strongly oppose the government’s proposal to rename Ho Technical University in honor of Dr. Ephriam Amu.

The Traditional Council has criticized the decision, announced in February 2018, for its lack of consultation with relevant stakeholders.

During a press conference on Monday, April 22, 2024, the council expressed deep dissatisfaction with the government and the university’s governing body for proceeding with the renaming without consulting key parties, including the Asogli State Council, who are the custodians of the land.

The decision was condemned as unfortunate, ill-advised, and disrespectful by the Asogli State Council, as it disregarded the perspectives of those directly affected.

Represented by Togbe Adzi Lakle Howusu XII, the Asogli State Council reiterated their strong opposition to the renaming, emphasizing that it is unjustified and undermines the university’s history and identity.
