Banking Collaboration for Economic Transformation

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has emphasized the importance of enhanced collaboration between commercial banks and the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to transform the banking industry significantly. He stated this is vital for Ghana’s determination to expedite the resolution of the existing economic challenges.

During a courtesy visit by Bernard Appiah Gyebi, the new Managing Director of Prudential Bank Ghana Limited, to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, the Asantehene advised the MD to build upon the strong foundation laid by his predecessors, who diligently nurtured the bank. In addition, the Asantehene encouraged the MD to introduce innovative strategies into the bank’s operations, especially in light of the impact of the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme on the financial sector.

Expressing his commendation for the bank’s continuous support to businesses and the overall economy, the Asantehene stressed the purpose of the visit as an opportunity for the new MD to introduce himself and formally establish a relationship with the King. He emphasized the need for the MD to focus on mobilizing deposits to enable the bank to support Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.

The MD, Mr. Gyebi, expressed his gratitude to Asanteman for the region’s support of the bank’s business operations. He thanked the King for his invaluable advice to the bank’s management. He acknowledged that the bank’s success would not have been possible without the prayers, support, and patronage of Asanteman. Mr. Gyebi conveyed the bank’s appreciation to the Asantehene for being a valued customer.

In return, the MD assured the Asantehene that the bank’s performance would flourish under his tenure and expressed his reliance on the King’s insightful advice. Accompanying the MD were Daniel Kissiedu, a Board Member; Thomas Broni, the Executive Head of Operations; Ebow Quayson, the Executive Head of Business Development; Akosua Boahen, the Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs; Thomas Dwomoh-Ameyaw, the Acting Regional Manager; and Naomi Adjei-Twum, the Marketing Manager.
