The ongoing chieftaincy dispute within one of the four main paramountcies in the Mfantseman Municipality has stirred fear and concern among the local residents.
Both the residents and the Traditional Council of Anomabo are urging the government and the Minister for Chieftaincy to initiate an investigation and restore peace to the current Anomabo Chieftaincy conflict.
This long-standing dispute has escalated into a life-threatening situation in recent
weeks. Some individuals residing in Anomabo are particularly alarmed due to the presence of unidentified armed individuals who have entered the community in preparation for the installation of Mr. Francis Ebo Mensah as Nana Okaa.
The Anomabo Traditional Council has called upon the government and Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, to intervene in resolving this matter. They have contested the royal status of Mr. Francis Ebo Mensah and the Fritsi Anona Family in relation to the Anomabo Traditional Area.
Nana Mmbroba Dabo III, the Paramount Queen Mother, has also made a heartfelt plea to the Chieftaincy Minister to take action and restore peace to the community. She implored Francis Ebo Mensah to withdraw the military presence he has deployed in the area, emphasizing the importance of ending the Anomabo chieftaincy disputes and upholding the dignity of chieftaincy in Ghana during the Minister’s tenure in office.
