The Accra High Court has dismissed the complaint filed by Deborah Seyram Adablah, a young lady who accused a former bank Chief Financial Officer of sexual harassment. Presided over by Justice John Bosco Nabarese on Wednesday, November 28, the court ruled that Adablah’s claim lacked adequate legal support, despite acknowledging the morally repugnant nature of her relationship with the former CFO.

The court expressed reluctance to endorse a partnership founded on unethical behavior, stating, “You cannot recover the price of something you have committed into an immoral act.” As a result, Adablah has been mandated to pay a fine of GH¢10,000.

This ruling comes in response to an application submitted by the former Chief Financial Officer, Ernest Kwasi Nimako, requesting the court to reject Adablah’s claim. Adablah had filed a lawsuit on January 23, 2023, alleging that Nimako, whom she referred to as her “sugar daddy,” had made several promises to her.

Among the alleged promises were buying her a car, covering her housing expenses for three years, providing a GH¢3,000 monthly allowance, marrying her after divorcing his wife, and giving her a lump sum to start a business. Adablah claimed that Nimako, who was the original owner of the car, took it back from her after just a year, denying her access to it. The court’s dismissal of the complaint implies that Adablah’s legal arguments were not deemed sufficient to support her claims.
