Dr. Onsy Nathan Kwame Nkrumah, the former Vice Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has officially entered the race to become the flagbearer of the party, signaling its intention to seize power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a press conference held before journalists, Dr. Nkrumah expressed he was encouraged by many Ghanaians in the diaspora who urged him to follow in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and lead the country towards positive change and progress.

His primary goal is to restore the CPP to its former glory, ensuring it is reorganized and dedicated to faithfully serving the people of Ghana once again. Dr. Nkrumah emphasized the CPP had previously led the nation and is now prepared to collaborate with any individual who shares the vision of making Ghana a better place.

With his extensive experience as a fervent advocate of Pan-Africanism on a global scale, Dr. Onsy Nkrumah believes he is the ideal candidate to lead both the CPP and Ghana. He highlighted the importance of CPP’s independence in bringing about the freedom for change. He appealed to Ghanaians living in the diaspora to return home and vote for him, emphasizing their crucial role in shaping the future of the country.

Dr. Nkrumah also acknowledged the disappointment Ghanaians have experienced under the governance of both the NPP and the NDC since 1992. He firmly believes that the people deserve far better governance for accelerated development, and he aims to provide just that.

In the race for the CPP flagbearership, Dr. Onsy Nkrumah faces competition from Nana Akosua Frimpongmaa Sarpong Kumankumah, both of whom are strong contenders with a good chance of winning. The party has stated that picking up and submitting nomination forms has been conducted peacefully.
