Dr. Duffuor’s 2-Year Plan For Ghana

Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a hopeful candidate for flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has promised to fix Ghana’s struggling economy within two years of assuming presidency if elected in 2024. Speaking to a large crowd of delegates at the Afienya Youth Training Institute, Dr. Duffuor acknowledged the country’s economic challenges despite its abundance of resources, stating that he is running for president to address these issues.

To achieve his goal of prosperity in Ghana by 2026, Dr. Duffuor outlined his plan to bring down the dollar and boost the value of the cedi in his first year, followed by accelerated growth in the second year. He cited Ghana’s current financial crisis, with inflation reaching a record 50.3% – the highest in 21 years – despite being a major exporter of cocoa and gold.

While President Akufo-Addo has blamed external factors such as the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war for the country’s economic troubles, Dr. Duffuor is confident that he can repeat his success as Minister for Finance and Economic Planning under the John Evans Atta-Mills presidency, during which Ghana achieved its best GDP growth rate of 14.4% in 2011.

Dr. Duffuor is currently on a tour of the Greater Accra Region, visiting various areas including Ningo Prampram, Kpone Katamanso, Tema West, Tema East, Tema Central, Krowor, and Ledzekuku.
