The Electoral Commission (EC) will begin accepting applications for proxy voting, vote transfers, and replacement of misplaced or destroyed voter ID cards starting this Thursday, May 30, 2024.
The deadline for vote transfers and proxy applications is June 14, 2024. According to CI 91, newly registered voters are not eligible to transfer their votes or submit proxy applications.
This information was shared in a statement by the Electoral Commission, which also announced that Voter ID card replacements will be available from Thursday, May 30, through Friday, June 14, 2024.
“This replacement service is intended for individuals who have lost their Voter ID Cards ahead of the December 7 general elections,” the statement read.
The EC advised voters needing replacement cards to use the shortcode 2221067# to pay for the replacement, noting, “The cost for replacement is GH¢10 only.”
Applicants were also instructed to provide the District Officer with the reference code received upon payment to expedite the card replacement process.
