EyeSight on Apple Vision Pro makes Wearing a Headset Slightly More Human

apple

At WWDC, Apple finally revealed its highly expected AR headset, introducing the Apple Vision Pro. What sets the Apple Vision Pro apart from its competitors is its unique ability to allow users to see the eyes of people around them through the device. This feature adds a touch of humanity to the headset instead of simply perceiving it as an impersonal piece of plastic.

Apple says, “Your eyes play a crucial role in expressing connection and emotion. Therefore, Vision Pro displays your eyes when someone is nearby.” The previously opaque black exterior of the Vision Pro becomes partially transparent, enabling those nearby to catch a glimpse of your eyes. On the user’s end, if someone tries to communicate with you while you’re wearing the headset, their presence will be more pronounced than whatever application you may have open.

Although this AR headset allows you to maintain an awareness of your surroundings, unlike VR headsets, with this feature, it would be more comfortable to ask someone to shift a few steps to the left so that a Safari tab does not obstruct them.

Apple also mentioned that the Vision Pro lets users capture photos and videos. However, an additional advantage of the EyeSight feature is that it alerts people you are taking a picture.
