Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a member of the New Patriotic Party and lawyer, has started legal action against former Environment Minister Prof Kwabena Frimpong Boateng for defamation. Gabby is demanding Ghȼ10m in damages and has accused Prof. Frimpong-Boateng of defamation in his controversial report on the former Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining Activities.
Gabby is the first to sue Prof. Frimpong-Boateng for defamation. This comes after the release of the report on the fight against illegal mining, which has been challenged by those accused of wrongdoing. Besides the damages, Gabby has requested an apology and retraction from Prof. Frimpong-Boateng and a perpetual injunction to prevent him from making similar defamatory statements.
