GFA Approves GHC50,000 Nomination

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Congress has unanimously approved the new presidential nomination fee of GHC50,000, with no alternative proposals being put forward.

The GFA’s Elections Committee, citing the high costs involved in organizing elections, had recommended the increase in fees.

In a recent statement issued on June 24th, Prosper Harrison Addo, the General Secretary of the GFA, announced a substantial rise in the nomination fee for Presidential candidates.

Compared to the previous elections in 2019 when GHC5,000 was charged, the proposed fee of GHC50,000 represents a significant surge of 900%.

To justify the need for this fee increment, the GFA points to the escalating expenses associated with the election process, which include logistics, transportation, and accommodation.

These costs have evidently risen since the previous elections, prompting the GFA to propose a higher nomination fee for the upcoming event.
