In the men’s 4×100-meter relay event held on Sunday, May 4, Ghana secured an automatic qualification for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Following a setback due to a baton drop on the first day of the World Relays in the Bahamas, the Ghanaian team exhibited an impressive performance, clocking a season-best time of 38.29 seconds to clinch the top spot.
Comprising Joseph Paul Amoah, Isaac Botsio, Ibrahim Fuseini, and Benjamin Azamati, Team Ghana competed in Heat Two of the second Olympic qualifying round on Day Two, facing formidable opponents from Nigeria, Korea, Saudi Arabia, the Dominican Republic, and the Netherlands.
Starting off strong, Fuseini propelled the team forward, smoothly passing the baton to Botsio. Azamati maintained the momentum during the third leg, executing flawless teamwork before handing over the baton to Amoah, who anchored the final stretch.
Amoah’s remarkable sprint mirrored his outstanding performance at the 2023 African Games, ultimately securing Ghana’s victory and ensuring their ticket to Paris.
