Over the weekend, several Ghanaian players based abroad showcased excellent performances for their respective clubs without any blemish of errors. In the Premier League, a significant number of them contributed to their team’s goals, including Jeffrey Schlupp, Jordan Ayew, and Antoine Semenyo, who all scored.
The goals of Schlupp and Jordan aided Crystal Palace’s victory over West Ham United at Selhurst Park. Jordan marked his 50th goal involvement in the English top flight, making him the first Ghanaian to achieve this milestone. Also, Semenyo scored his first goal in the English top flight after coming off the bench for Bournemouth in their 4-1 win against Leeds United at home. Kamaldeen Sulemana provided an assist in Southampton’s defeat to Newcastle United away from home, and they face the risk of relegation.
In the Belgian league, Joseph Painstil increased his season goal tally to 15 after scoring in Genk’s 3-1 win over Club Brugge. Kasim Adams also scored a goal for Basel in their 4-1 win against Winterthur in the Swiss league. In the English League One, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi provided a goal and an assist in Charlton Athletic’s victory over Port Vale over the weekend. Moritz-Broni Kwarteng also scored for Magdeburg in their 3-2 win over Hamburg. Finally, Ernest Agyiri contributed an assist in Levadia Tallinn’s 1-0 win against Nomme Kalju, which helped them maintain their position at the top of the Estonian Premium Liiga.
