On Friday, March 22, 2024, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) disbursed an amount of one hundred and eighty million Ghana Cedis (GHS180 Million) to various healthcare providers across the country. These payments primarily cover claims that were submitted and vetted up to December 2023, aligning with the NHIA’s mandate as the payer of healthcare services in Ghana for prescribed disease conditions outlined in the NHIS Benefit Package.

The NHIS Benefit Package encompasses over 95% of disease conditions affecting residents of Ghana and is complemented by a comprehensive NHIS Medicines list, comprising over 550 formulations to address all covered diseases under the Scheme.

In a statement, the NHIA management affirmed its commitment to ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services to all members. The Authority reassured the public that with this payment, it remains current and not in arrears, adhering to the accepted 90-day timeframe for the settlement of vetted claims.
