The domestic tax division task force of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has apprehended eight managers of retail shops and restaurants for intentionally failing to provide VAT invoices to customers.

These arrests contribute to 93 individuals currently under investigation and prosecution.

The task force executed a focused operation in East Legon and Adenta, specifically targeting non-compliant managers.
Among the businesses cracked down on by the GRA were Tasty Treats Catering Services at the University of Ghana, Legon, Luxi Wear, Obsession, Eco Furniture, Paladin Doors, AB Tissues & More, and TF Eatry.

At Tasty Treats Catering Services, the GRA got invoices and receipts for further evaluation because of suspicions of tax evasion.

According to the GRA, the eatery has been selectively issuing VAT invoices after making sales. The manager has been arrested for additional questioning.

During the arrest, the GRA team stated, “We have visited your establishment in the past, and as a VAT-registered taxpayer, you had to issue the Commissioner General’s invoice, which you failed to do. Under Section 41 of our laws, this is an offense, and we will immediately hand you over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to proceed with the actions.”
