Ghanaian afro-fusion sensation, Gyakie, has joined forces with rising rap artist JBEE from North London for her latest single, “Scar.”. This emotionally charged R&B track infused with Hip-Hop elements showcases Gyakie’s fierce flow over a drill beat crafted by Sosa, featuring JBEE. The song’s production is dark and foreboding, with heavy 808s, while both artists deliver impactful lyrics complemented by softer melodies in JBEE’s verse. “Scar” narrates a tale of love gone awry from both perspectives – Gyakie representing pain and JBEE expressing doubts and insecurities.

The visual representation of “Scar” also reflects this juxtaposition, with Gyakie and JBEE portraying their sides of the love story in the music video. The final scenes bring them together, with red tones symbolizing the love and pain woven throughout the song. Craig Capone directed the music video, known for his work with artists like Headie One, Sarkodie, Chip, Ms. Banks, and Romara Blake, recognized for her collaborations with Eva Lazarus.

Since her debut single “Love is Pretty” in 2019, Gyakie has steadily risen in prominence, collaborating with renowned artists such as AKA Diplo, Blaq Jerzee, Major League DJz, and Mayorkun. Her breakout hit “Forever” has gained international recognition, accumulating over 150 million streams across various platforms. JBEE, hailing from North London, has also made a name for himself in the British rap scene, with his track “4 AM” amassing over 77 million streams in 2021 and boasting 3.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify. He was also nominated for Best Newcomer at the MOBO Awards in 2020.

Gyakie expressed her excitement about collaborating with JBEE, stating, “Working with JBEE brought a different dimension to ‘Scar.’ This was such a great experience to bring our two sounds together and create a deep yet catchy single that resonates with audiences across continents.” JBEE also shared his enthusiasm about the collaboration, mentioning, “Even though I am London born and raised, I’m Ghanaian, and I’m thrilled we could collaborate and create this track. I hope the fans love this one, seeing two worlds collide!”

“Scar” is a compelling and authentic portrayal of contemporary relationships that will resonate with music fans worldwide.
