Laryea Kingston, a former player for Hearts of Oak and the Black Star, believes that the current struggles faced by these two prominent Ghanaian clubs can be attributed to a lack of proper planning. During an exclusive interview with Metro TV, the ex-Ghana international emphasized the importance of having a game plan for the future, encompassing the goals the clubs wish to achieve in the next 4-5 years, both in the league and on the continent.
Kingston expressed his concern, stating, “It all boils down to planning, but regrettably, I don’t think they have implemented any such measures.” He emphasized these teams should strive to do the right things and try to recruit the technical personnel, and he emphasized these teams should work with a deep understanding of the game.
Hearts of Oak’s aspirations of clinching the GPL trophy this season were dealt a significant blow over the weekend when they suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat at the hands of Medeama SC at the Accra Sports Stadium. Medeama SC rose to the top of the league standings. Currently, Hearts of Oak occupies the 8th position with 45 points, while their archrival Kotoko holds the 4th position with 47 points.
