I got bullied in secondary school because of my mom’s fame – Efya

Growing up as the daughter of a famous personality did not make life easy for Ghanaian singer, Efya, as she had to face her own set of challenges.

Despite being the offspring of a celebrated Ghanaian filmmaker and host of “Greetings from Abroad,” Nana Adwoa Awindor, Efya’s childhood was filled with stress and pressure. Because of her mother’s fame, she was even bullied at Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School.

Originally, Efya planned to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a film director, but the first runner-up spot on Stars of the Future changed her course. Having studied music and theater at the University of Ghana, she has been pursuing a successful career in music for over 15 years.
